L’Oréal liquid matte lipsticks review

L’Oréal ultra matte lipsticks

I bought three shades of two different L’Oréal liquid matte lipsticks. The pink shade “I DECIDE” and the orange shade “I RADIATE” are liquid matte lipsticks that have a very light-weight texture. It feels like a velvety smooth, water-based serum at touch and when applied on the lips, it looks effortless and so light that you don’t realize that you are wearing lipstick. This lipstick can go from light to heavy, hence buildable coverage. Even though it is light-weight, it lasts the entire day. I particularly love the lipsticks. I absolutely love the applicator because it makes application easy and precise.

In the picture below, I applied the pink shade “I DECIDE” on my upper lip while the orange shade “I RADIATE” is on the lower lip. I love the orange shade because it is not bright, hot orange and looks somewhat coral in shade – soft but appealing.

The third lipstick is the L’Oréal ultra matte lipstick in a shade of “TASTY RUBY” 864. I absolutely love this shade of red! It’s a shade of red that can be noticed from away and the beautiful thing about this Tasty Ruby lipstick is that it is a statement makeup so you do not require that much makeup on your face.

The Ultra matte lipstick is in a class all by itself – the texture is much heavier than the two above, it is very creamy and offers full coverage even at a single application. This lipstick is ideal for a dramatic look or a good night out in town. This lipstick lasts all day and beyond – if you are a night owl, keep this lipstick close by because it will last even to the morning! Absolutely gorgeous!

My verdict?

5 out of 5. I can’t even fault these lipsticks! 😀

L’Oréal Infallible lipstick review

Hallo!

I am not much of a foundation person and neither do I love wearing makeup every day but I sure do love lipsticks. I especially love matte lipsticks and do more of lipsticks than lip glosses. But lately, I was seeking for glossy lipsticks with long hour staying power so I headed out to the Boots store while on vacation. I decided to try L’Oréal Infallible 24 hours lip stick. What attracted me to this lipstick was the “24 hours” – I have 24 hours lipsticks from other brands and they do live up to their expectations so you can imagine how eager I was to try this – given the fact that they are glossy as well. So I bought three shades:

To start with, I like that this lipsticks comes as a 2-in-1 which is the liquid lipstick and a top coat that is meant to act as a color boost balm. The lipstick makes for easy application as the applicator is firm and easy to handle.

Here’s my observation:

At first application, it doesn’t spread quite well. It is not an instant full coverage lipstick like the other brands that I own, probably because it is not matte. This is how it looked after first application:

That I was pleased with although three applications is a bit much of an effort before achieving the desired coverage.

Long-wear?

The shine lasted for four hours under the Nigerian sun.

By evening after I had drank and eaten, this is how the lipstick turned out:

My verdict:

This lipstick can take you from morning to evening but you will need one top-up but as regarding lasting for 24hours, it hasn’t lived up to that – at least not for me, especially in my Nigerian heat where makeup melts away with the heat! 😀

My score: 3.5 out of 5.

This lipstick is great for a casual day wear.

Labelle Magnifique: C’est magnifigue!

Howdy!

I am a huge fan of Labelle makeup – it’s a UK-based brand and I blog about the products from time to time – I am not paid to do that. During the summer, I purchased Labelle Magnifigue – it’s eyeshadow palette of both matte and shimmer shadows. This high pigmented palette contains tropical colors that are rich and vibrant. And the best part of the shadows is their very smooth texture that does not crease at all! Both matte and shimmer shadows are so intense that they not only spread evenly on the skin but have long lasting finish. This long wear eyeshadow palette can be used for a day look or night look and it is so playful that any creative person can have fun with it. You don’t have to be a makeup professional to look magnificent with the shadows- the colors sure do pop!

For my makeup, I used Maybelline concealer, foundation and powder. I used Labelle Magnifigue eyeshadow palette for the eye makeup, I used Labelle So Cheek highlighter and blush palette to blush and highlight and I used my favorite Labelle liquid matte lipstick in shade of Mocha for the lips.

I really enjoyed using the products.

Urban decay Hi-fi Shine lip gloss review

I have been using Urban Decay Hi-fi shine lip gloss since May. It is presented in a transparent tube with silver lid and casing. The packaging is quite attractive and I like the fact that it is easy to grip and use.

I bought two shades of this lip gloss -SPL which is a intense shimmering rose pink shade and “Snapped” which is an intense shimmering purple shade. The lip gloss is presented as a creamy texture while the applicator brush is firm enough to apply this non-clumpy creamy shimmering lip gloss without making a mess.

Upon opening the lid and applying on the lips, a soft but exciting minty scent filters into your nostrils like some sort of welcoming rite 😀. I actually love this about it. The lip gloss presents a sweet, candy-like fragrance and taste, which I am not too hyped about. I think I would have been okay with the minty scent because I sincerely do not like “sweet” lip glosses.

Besides the taste, I love the filling it gives the lips because the volume builds up quite easily. This lip gloss presents no clumps at all as it spreads smoothly with ease.

And the shine? Absolutely gorgeous! I love the glossy, shimmering finish and the fact that the minty scent lingers on for a while to create a “balmy” feel which is quite reassuring because you feel your lips being protected 😀.

I love everything about the lip glosses. Besides the sweet scent which I am not too hyped about, I love everything else about this lip glosses so I am going to give it a 4 out of 5 – just ’cause of the fragrance.

Drug store makeup review

When it comes to makeup, I go for products that are easy to use, serves its intended purpose and accentuate my natural beauty so I don’t go for anything extreme. As I approach forty, I am also going for makeup products that are lightweight and won’t clog my pores and ones that give a fresh, youthful finish. I don’t necessarily have to buy everything that is anti-aging because I currently use my natural skincare line of anti-aging products available Here which are doing my skin a ton of good; I go for lightweight makeup products because they give the most natural feel without emphasizing wrinkles or age lines.

So on my recent trip to Boots, I bought:

1.Maybelline dream satin liquid foundation with hydrating serum which offers long wear, full coverage and a satin finish that a mature skin like mine needs. It blends so easily and gets absorbed pretty well by my skin. This has been a perfect replacement for my Maybelline dream matte mousse. This product has my four stars rather than five because I didn’t find my exact shade.

2. I currently use MAC mineral pressed powder and since I didn’t buy from Boots, I chose not to include the picture here. It gives a natural finish that I love.

3. I also bought Maybelline Instant anti-age eraser concealer that is totally amazing! You can see the fine lines disappear! This product has my 5 stars vote!

4. I also bought Maybelline city bronzer for the soft sheer finish. This bronzer is soft and the shimmer intensity very low so it’s ideal for day time use. I combine this bronzing powder with my MAC mineral powder when I don’t want to use foundation.

5. Maybelline tattoo brow is a fantastic product that I am glad I bought. This gel brow makeup is easy to apply and makes brow sculpting easy as well. I give this gel brow liner 5 stars.

6. Maybelline Eye studio kajal. This kajal or eye liner gives a defining look, gives the drama that you like and is long lasting. It is very easy to apply and I loved the finished look that I went back to buy a second one! I give this product 5 stars.

7. My next buy was Maybelline Colossal Big Shot volume mascara for intense drama and the artificial lash finish. I always use this product or MAC mascara because either gives the intensity that I like. This product has my 5 stars.

8. I am most excited about L’Oreal Ultra matte liquid lipstick. To start with, I love the brush because it’s firm and makes application precise and not messy. And when it dries and mattifies, it stays for 24 hours. I actually bought three of this lipstick. I give it 5 stars.

So with all of these products, it was pretty easy to create an evening look that is simple and youthful.

MAC Mascara review: why am ditching my eye liners

Hi guys,

This is my first post since migrating my blog from its previous site to this spanking new one. I had been postponing this post for a while because I had been so busy. So, you can imagine how happy I am to be submitting this post.

I actually bought MAC In Extreme Dimension Lash mascara since spring. What attracted me to it was its 3D volume and dramatic effect and I can say that it has lived up to its expectations.

For a start, I do absolutely love the mascara wand as the bristles are able to individually pick out my lashes with ease. It instantly adds volume as well and lasts the whole day.

With this mascara, the eyes get instant volume and true to its words, you get the dramatic eyes you desire by the second application. It is water-proof and lasts the whole day.

You should give this mascara a try because it’s worth it’s 24 Dollars price tag!

Product review: Labelle So Lush shadows

Labelle So Lush eyeshadow palette as the name signifies, is lush, luxurious and high pigment eye shadows for both day and night. This palette has 14 shades of both matte and shimmer eyes shadows. The texture is powdery, soft and extremely easy to apply. This is the first shimmer eyeshadow that I have used that didn’t fall on my face. The colors last the whole day and are so pretty, I took them for a spin.

I complemented the eyeshadow with Labelle Nude Liquid lipstick

I had so much fun wearing this eyeshadow that I took loads of pictures.

Orange is my thang: MAC So Chaud lipstick review

So, orange is one of the colors that I adore because it uplifts my mood and brighten me up any time. So when I went shopping for MAC lipsticks, I bought So Chaud, which is a bright orange matte lipstick that feels creamy on application but remains matte all day. This lipstick is so long lasting that it can withstand food and drinks and still be stubborn to take off at bedtime.

It doesn’t leave your lips dry like most matte lipsticks but maintains a soft shine the entire day.

Loving this lipstick right now because with such strong lips, a nearly-bare face is just about right. This lipstick is worth having.

MAC matte Stone Lipstick review

I recently purchased a set of MAC lipsticks recently and the matte Stone is my favorite for its taupe shade that is soft yet unmissable. I love dark lips and sometimes, dark lipsticks can appear too strong especially during the day so this MAC matte Stone is perfect – it’s a nude taupe that is like a softer, “mellow -down” dark lipstick that is so beautiful to wear. And I must say that it lasts all day long!

This lipstick might be matte but the texture isn’t like other matte lipsticks that are dry. Rather, this one feels soft and moisturizing to touch and when applied, it doesn’t feel dry at all. While I had the lipstick on, I ate, drank and put the lipstick to test all through the day. I was pleased to find that the lipstick was still on. And before bed, I had to use makeup remover to wipe it off as just mere water wouldn’t do the job.

My verdict? I will give this lipstick 4.5 out of 5. I love it so much.

Lipmania: Labelle liquid lipstick

Hi guys,

I recently created a new section of my blog called Lipmania which is dedicated to lip makeup only. I love lipsticks a lot so I will be reviewing all things lips – lipsticks, lip glosses, lip liners and all forms of lip makeup.

My first review is on U.K. Based Instagram sensation – Labelle UK. I have used their matte lipsticks in the past so I decided to try the liquid lipsticks in shades of Brownie & Nude.

The texture is creamy, moisturizing and with minimal shine. This is a long-wearing lipstick so you need not worry about taking drinks. It’s brush tip makes for easy application and it’s coverage is exceptional.
