Blemishes are common with oily skin African women and while some may appear in our teenage years and youth, some women do suffer blemishes in adulthood as well. Blemishes are usually dark spots that appear on my skin. There are several products that combat this condition and you can find several acne attacking cleansers, toners and oil-free moisturizers that can take care of this.
I know that applying makeup on a blemish skin can be tricky especially if you do not know how to go about it. Some people think that one has to put on a lot of foundation and powder to conceal the dark spots or pimples; while other women simply avoid makeup entirely. There are quiet a number of foundations that claim to treat acne at the same time! – Good science I might add. But here is how to go about applying makeup properly to a blemish skin.
Fact one: the skin must be cleansed and cleaned at all times before makeup application. For best results, use the Interface three-step system (Interface belongs to the same Colour Me Beautiful brand as Flori Roberts and you can order it via our contact). The Interface Immaculate Complexion cleanses, while Interface Control Factor is a toner; combining the two with Interface Balanced agreement, which is an oil-free moisturizer for oily/troubled skin. The goal for any blemish prone skin is to reduce shine or oil while you go about your day. Following this three-step system is the first stage in a makeup regiment for blemish prone skin.
Fact two: Use the right foundation, concealer and powder. Here is a simple guide to concealing dark spots.
- Begin by dapping or patting concealer which is a shade lighter than the dark spot itself on each individual spot. You can use your finger tips but make sure your hands are sanitized; or you use a concealer brush. In a patting motion, apply the concealer on the spots and under your eyes to conceal the dark circles. Once done, use a small brush to apply your powder on the concealed areas. This action locks in the concealer and prevents it from smudging when you apply the foundation.
- Next, apply the foundation, which should be water-based like Flori Roberts’.
- Follow with your oil-blotting powder, also found in Flori Roberts and regular makeup.
By using the Interface three-step system, you will prevent shine or oil from your face. For the remaining part of the day, you can blot out any shine with an oil-blotting paper or like me, buy an oil-blotting transparent powder (which suits all skin shades), dust some of it on your handkerchief which you can use to blot out oil.
And at bed time, please, remove all makeup. FM Makeup Miscellar lotion comes handy here because it removes makeup and cleanses the face as well. You can also order the product on this site.
